Merry Christmas!! I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!
This week in class we will be having some fun. I have a candy cane science experiment planned and we are finishing up our parent gifts :). There will be no letter of the week. Of course, we are all excited for our pajama party on Thursday. Don't forget to wear your pjs next Thursday! The students did so well at the Christmas concert, I am so proud of them! Also thank you to all the families that donated items to the classroom. I really appreciate the help! With generousity I am able to plan and do fun activities in class. I have to get creative when the weather is yucky and the kids can't go outside. So thank you very much! Lastly, enjoy the holiday break. I look forward to seeing all the kiddos in the new year! I gave each family a snack calendar for January, let me know if you need another copy. This week we are working on letter C and our shape friend is a Hexagon. During small group we are making pattern headbands and practicing writing the letter c. 3K is doing a wonderful job with their writing!
Few reminders: Scholastic Orders are due this Thursday! There is also no school next Thursday, Happy Thanksgiving! Next Tuesday, Nov. 22 is the school wide picture and you can also bring in some donations for the pantry. Another note, any family members are welcome to attend the Christmas show. Please note that it is first come, first serve with seating. Any other questions, please let me know. Thanksgiving Week: No letter of the week. We will be doing some fun Thanksgiving activities, including painting with feathers! Also, with the cold weather approaching this weekend you are welcome to bring in snowpants and boots if you feel that it will keep your child warm and if we do get snow. Outside time may be limited by the weather, but I will try to get the students out as much as I can. Happy Thanksgiving! Our Halloween Party was so fun! The kids also enjoyed visiting other classrooms and showing them their costumes!
Welcome October! This week the students are learning about the letter T. We also have a shape of the week: Suzy Circle. The students will be using fine motor skills during small group to finger-paint count and do some corn art. Mrs. Sinkula has some gross motor activities planned outside this week: pumpkin toss and chalk color find game.
Reminder: Next week is the family dinner at St.Mary's. It is Wednesday, October 12th! Our class book is also making it's way to different families. Thank you for all the wonderful comments, the kids love hearing how each family likes the book. It is also Fire Safety Month. I will be doing various activities throughout the month to promote this. The students will learn what to do if there is a fire a school, what number to call, and how to stop, drop, and roll. 3K will read fun stories to learn more about fire safety too! 3K has started their ABC journals! How exciting to be writing! Each student has their own journal and this is where we practice writing our letters. This week was letter A. The children were taught Slant left, Slant right, Slant right to write the letter A. The curriculum I am using is Zaner-Bloser Handwriting. When at home try to encourage this stroke description for letter A :) The letterforms and letter-sound relationships your child learns in 3K are the building blocks for early literacy.
